http://p2pnet.net/story/12636Prince’s latest album has been released free of charge!!!
This article could be quite provoking in the European conditions but really it is a very big story in Greece
Let’s see how it started:
More than 10 years ago , I think in 95-6 a new TV program magazine for that time, that later ceased publications, possibly due to low audience rather than suings from AEPI the local RIAA , enclosed in its issues a music CD, that was mainly a collection from Greek singers. I do not however remember the name of it.
Another magazine
, called Pista –‘stage’ in English - , involved entirely in music , included ‘underground’ folk songs from ‘second’ and ‘third class’ singers also from its start .
This aroused the interest of other TV program magazines to include at least one Cd ./ IN ca 96-97 not only TV program magazines did it but also newspapers and … consumable products such as detergents!!
Nearly same time there was a movie magazine called Cinema that offered a videotape movie for a small priceup comparing to other magazines .
A little later 2003-4 ? a nationwide magazine Elefterotypia – offered for free a episode from National Geographic documentaries with VCD .
This arouse the interest of other newspapers to include in their weekend issues with movies. An economic newspaper (Imerisia – Saturday only economic newspaper), was the successor , offering a movie from its collection, either Greek or western, at a price-up of 2 Euro (ca 2.4 USD)
Following it many others did the same. Now today every newspaper can have at least one DVD to maximum 3 and or one music CD !!
The first mentioned newspaper issued one (mostly non commercial – ‘cultural’ movie ) on Sundays only or the first two years then reverted back to promote classic author books and then with audio CDs
There is a special case of the Modern Times press company offering :
-TV magazine TIVO with 3 DVD or total 5 movies , including one movie from a older famous Greek artist, one ‘country’ movie , two children cartoons
- gossip magazine AVANTI with 3 DVD and 5 movies , one of them with Greek movie of 80s
- Saturday newspaper with 3 DVD again ,one DVDwith older Greek movies in double side with a Italian or English movie ,and two cartoon movies
and everything possibly under the cooperation of one nationwide TV channel
Another newspaper offers series of James Bond . Another offers blockbusters as for example “ocean’s 12’ offered on mid June 2007
Could this idea be a good solution to lessen the CD/DVD piracy in your country?
and now PICTURES!!!

THis is the magazine avanti . Excpt of the magazine, a double VCD with flipper is included in a small carton paper andon the right a full size DVD with a greek movie of the 80s
and here is the TV magazine TIVO ; It includes : TIvo maazine (left backgroud! ), CD with garfield on the left corner , a movie from Beggos , and on the topright a booklet with recipes (yu see a knife and a fork in between the title lettrs )
and more pictures to add later ..............
